Social Media Intern, Remote, Part-time

Next Great Step seeks a dynamic and reliable Social Media Intern with a strong work ethic and a passion for marketing, content creation, and storytelling. This role is ideal for a rising college junior or senior who is creative, strategic, and excited to use emerging tools, including custom AI, to develop compelling brand-aligned content. *** A huge benefit to taking on this role is that an intern will get 1-1 attention regarding their own internship or job search and will have direct access to private guidance on how to land the job.

We’re looking for someone who:

Takes initiative and is confident in owning tasks independently
Has excellent attention to detail, listening skills, and communication
Brings energy, positivity, and a collaborative spirit
Understands how to engage across social platforms with empathy and professionalism
Thinks strategically about how to tell a story visually and through copy

This is a part-time, flexible independent contractor position.

Start Date: June 16, 2025, position may be ongoing through the school year
Hours: 10-15 hours/week, Max. 15/hrs per week
Location: Remote
Compensation: $18/hour

Preferred Experience & Skills

Familiarity with key platforms: LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Google My Business and YouTube
Strong copywriting skills with the ability to craft engaging, brand-aligned captions
Comfortable using or willing to learn:
- Custom GPT tools to generate and refine marketing content
- Canva or Adobe for branded visuals and social graphics
- Short-form video creation, including basic editing and scripting for Reels, TikToks, or YouTube Shorts
- Being on camera or assisting with video production
- ManyChat (or similar) for Instagram DM automation and engagement
- Managing content calendars and scheduling tools (e.g., Publer or similar)
Ability to repurpose long-form content (e.g., blogs, webinars) into bite-sized social posts
Interest in learning and reflecting the Next Great Step® approach
Proficient with: Google Drive, Zoom, and social platforms

Responsibilities

Create, manage, and schedule weekly social media posts across LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and Google My Business
Use a custom GPT to assist with content ideation, post writing, and campaign development
Write or repurpose content for 5+ social posts per week, adapting tone for platform and audience
Propose and execute ideas for short-form video content (editing and/or on-camera)
Create on-brand graphics in Canva for posts and promotions
Upload and manage content using Publer (or similar social media scheduler)
Monitor engagement (comments, messages) and respond with professionalism and warmth
Develop and maintain a monthly content calendar balancing promotional, educational, and inspirational posts
Support occasional project-based marketing initiatives or launches
Conduct independent background research on Next Great Step offerings and philosophy (outside of paid work hours)
